Technology will undoubtedly continue to innovate, and it is important to adjust the classroom style to align with its top advancements.
FREMONT, CA: Technology has transformed life, and the classroom looks much different than it did 50 years ago. Conventional chalkboards have been replaced with digital offerings, and classrooms have a surplus of mobile devices. According to a recent report, 92 percent of teachers said that the internet has a major impact on their potential to access content, resources, and materials. Here are some technologies that improve the classroom experience.
One of the best methods to engage all students in a classroom is to give students an easy way to ask questions, receive feedback, or otherwise reach out to the teacher. While there are several ways to do this, one of the universally accessible methods is Google Forms. Whether a teacher provides specific questions and prompts for students to respond to as an exit slip or simply leave it as a way for students to post questions anonymously, a simple messaging system or basic form can enhance student engagement.
• Class Dojo
This is a fun device to gamify the classroom. Students can make their avatars, get and lose points based on classroom behavior, discussion methods, and other skills agreed upon by the teacher and the class. Teachers can use Class Dojo to take attendance and generate graphs that breakdown the data for teachers. This tool will encourage students to uphold class values, but it will also offer key metrics to help teachers adjust their teaching methods accordingly.
• Venngage
Create interactive lessons, evaluate students on the fly, and see data and student responses in real-time. Students who can ask questions and get feedback at any time are more likely to be engaged. With so much focus being provided to data analytics, data literacy is a useful skill for students. Whether the students have gathered their data or gathered it from other sources, can visualize their data in an infographic is a skill. Infographics appeal to both visual and textual learners. Venngage provides a selection of infographic templates that students can customize.
